Anita Barrett’s paintings are the result of a process of cultivating calm for present and future self: immersing herself in nature she is developing a state of mind. On the distinctive round panels of her exhibition To the Shore, Barrett brings this sense of calm to her paintings and shares her love of Victoria's Surf Coast and the Bellarine, capturing the peace of coastal vegetation and sand dune pathways to the shore.
After years of sketching and painting, I have developed a style best described as impressionism with a more abstract format, creating a conversation between colour and texture. Predominantly I work with acrylics, charcoal on stretched canvas and wood art panels.
