Barry Gillard presents large-scale charcoal drawings of the natural world.
His weekends are productive reconnaissance trips to the forests and natural
landforms throughout southern Victoria. Together with on-site sketches,
Barry takes many photographs which form a ‘point of departure’
for his epic works on paper, which show a deep connection to nature, and
a heightened awareness of landscape.
Barry’s works are held in the Geelong Gallery and Horsham Regional
Art Gallery collections, and private collections in Australia.
ARTIST PROFILE
Born Melbourne 1957
Resides Geelong, Victoria
1975-1978 completed Bachelor of Education Art and Craft at Melbourne University
and has since taught a variety of art-based subjects in Victorian Secondary
Schools.
