Collectors Show

The Metropolis Gallery Collectors Show provides a great opportunity for both established and new collectors to acquire some little gems in excellent condition and presentation. This is a two-week exhibition and sale of significant smaller works by important Australian artists, with many very well priced works spanning the last century.

Among many highlights are John Brack's ‘Seated Nude’ lithograph, a rare Sybil Craig maritime painting ‘Jauaga Beached’, a large collection of important etchings (framed and unframed) by John Olsen, Arthur Boyd, Fred Williams, Lloyd Rees, Roger Kemp and Charles Blackman, a lovely 1926 Marguerite Mahood hand-coloured linocut, drawings by Frank Hodgkinson and Eric Thake (plus a collection of Thake linocuts), Tim Storrier’s lithograph ‘The Fall’, several Bill Coleman paintings, a Brian Dunlop watercolour ‘Nude in Interior’, and a small Garry Shead painting ‘White Angel’ 1990. Other artists include: Amor, Coburn, Jacks, Larwill, Meilerts, Pekel, Whiteley, Napier Waller and Zbukvic.

Peter Ferguson and Judi Singleton are featured artists. They were two of the founding members of the famous Roar Studios in 1982, whose distinctive, expressive naive style combines a riot of childlike human figures, birds, trees and buildings. The appeal of their work is reflected in the many successful exhibitions held at Roar Studios, and several major Australian galleries. Ferguson is represented in many collections including the National Gallery of Australia, Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the Sir William Dobell Foundation Sydney. Singleton is represented at the National Gallery of Australia, Artbank, Parliament House and also in many private Australian collections.
