JEWELLERY
Artist
Statement
"My
involvement with antiquities of the Greek classic period
led to my interest in jewellery. I first experimented with
bolder designs in German-silver, copper, brass, gilding
metal and leather. For my current work I am using sterling
silver and gold - more malleable metals which lend themselves
naturally to the flowing designs I currently employ.
I
like my jewellery to be wearable and comfortable - not necessarily
a challenge to the concept of jewellery, but in harmony
with the wearer.
My
environment is reflected to a certain extent in my designs
and provides me with constant stimulation. My task is to
translate everyday patterns and forms into non-representative
semi-abstract configurations. The primeval shape of the
scroll can be experimented with and developed into ever
new exciting variations - a constant search for a new perspective
on ancient concepts."
